Biden made his “State of the Union” speech for the first time at the joint session of the House of Representatives and Senate in the US Congress.
Biden started his speech by referring to the Russia-Ukraine war. “He faced the wall of power. He faced the Ukrainian people,” he said.
Biden stated that everyone, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski to all segments of the people, defended their homeland until the end, reminded Zelenski’s words in his speech at the European Parliament, “The light will defeat the darkness”, and stated that Ukraine’s Ambassador to Washington is also in Congress.
Pointing out that the Russian ruble has lost 30 percent of its value in the face of the sanctions they have imposed, Biden said, “Tonight, we are joining our European partners by closing the American airspace to all Russian flights. This will further isolate Russia and put more pressure on its economy . “
Underlining that the United States and the American people are behind the Ukrainian people, Biden said:
“Throughout our history, we’ve learned this lesson: When dictators don’t pay for their aggression, they cause more chaos and move on. Threats to America and the world continue to increase. That’s why the NATO alliance created peace and stability in Europe after World War II. “The United States, along with 29 other countries, is a member of NATO. It has a meaning. American diplomacy has a meaning. The American solution has a meaning.”
